Our Stories Carry His Glory
I grew up in a home where sharing stories about God was part of everyday life. Whether it was around the dinner table or during long car rides, we would talk about the ways God had shown up—His kindness, His provision, His presence. I grew up knowing that God was the hero of our family.
In the 70s, I was deeply impacted by the Jesus Movement. It was a time when testimonies—real stories of God radically changing lives—were everywhere. People were encountering God in powerful, supernatural ways, and they weren’t shy about it. Testimonies felt alive, vibrant, and contagious.
Somewhere along the way, the value of sharing testimonies seemed to quiet down a bit. But recently, I believe God is stirring something again. He’s reminding us how important these stories are—how powerful they are.
Because testimonies aren’t just nice memories. They’re weapons, they’re prophetic, they’re invitations. They help build faith in others and remind us who God is. When we take time to remember and share our God stories, we’re not just reflecting—we’re releasing something of heaven here on earth.
The word “testament” actually means testimony. In Israel, people often refer to the Bible not as “the Bible” but “the Testament”—a book full of God’s stories and encounters with people. That’s what the Old and New Testaments are: a collection of testimonies showing us what God is like.
Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 3:2, “You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men.” In other words, our lives are living letters. We are walking, breathing testimonies of God’s faithfulness. Every breakthrough, every answered prayer, every moment of peace in the storm—it all shines His light through us.
When we share a testimony, we’re actually inviting others into an encounter with God. His presence rests on the testimony. That means when you talk about how God provided for you financially, or healed your heart, or restored a relationship, it’s not just a story—it’s a doorway. A way for someone else to experience Him, too.
All throughout scripture, we see this. God revealed His nature through people’s experiences. That’s how we get names like “Jehovah Jireh” (God our Provider) or “Jehovah Rapha” (God our Healer). Someone had a moment with God—and that encounter became a revelation for generations to come.
And the beautiful thing? Testimonies don’t get old. They’re living. They still carry power today. When we revisit them, we don’t just remember—we reconnect with what God did, and we open up the possibility of Him doing it again. What we celebrate, we make room for.
So let’s not treat our stories lightly. Let’s remember them. Share them. Speak them out. The world needs more of His glory, and we get to release it—one testimony at a time.
